FAIR FOR EVERYONE

DONATIONS

Here at Work the World our aim is to continue to build fair, sustainable, long-term partnerships with all of the hospitals and clinics with which we work. We're always striving to make sure our partners get as much out of our relationships as possible. With both cultural and skills exchange at the heart of what we do, one of our main areas of focus is making sure we facilitate sustained and reliable communication at all times.

But we also want to be sure our partner hospitals benefit financially. In addition to the financial contributions we make we donate essential equipment to ensure key departments are operating at their best.

Expanding the reach of cultural exchange we also offer hospital staff free English language tuition. This not only helps staff and students communicate effectively on the wards, but also aids staff in their personal development.

EQUIPMENT DONATION

As part of our ongoing partnerships with hospitals we make sure they have the equipment they need to help them operate at their highest possible standard. This benefits staff, students and more importantly the patients. Equipment donations are based on the needs of the hospital, so we take them into account before making purchases.

"WHEN FOREIGN STUDENTS COME IT'S EASY TO IDENTIFY EQUIPMENT GAPS THAT WE HAVE. WHEN WE SEE THESE GAPS, WORK THE WORLD FILLS THEM FOR US."

- DR. MESHAK SHIMWELA - HOSPITAL DIRECTOR, TANZANIA

For example Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Ghana was in great need of an oxygen concentrator. We sent them a brand new machine as the hospital's specialists predict that with one they could save the lives of as many as 150 people per year. To our other partners this year we've donated laptops, medicine trolleys, dentistry curing lights, portable theatres, pulse oximeters, blood pressure monitors, thermometers and much more.

"WORK THE WORLD HAVE DONATED A LOT TO OUR WARD BECAUSE THEY'VE SEEN THE SITUATION OF OUR PATIENTS. WE'RE SO THANKFUL FOR ALL THE HELP THEY'VE EXTENDED TO THE WESTERN VISAYAS MEDICAL CENTRE."

- ROSE KAREN HIJOSA - SENIOR NURSE, PHILIPPINES

FINANCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS

DONATIONS

As well as equipment donations we also make sizeable financial contributions to all of our partner hospitals.

In 2014 we sent over $350,000 to hospitals and clinics in all of our destinations. That's $100,000 more than the previous year. In 2015 we contributed over $370,000!

On top of their already busy schedules our supervising staff take the time to guide students for the duration of their placement. We make a point of recognising them by financially rewarding them, personally, for their efforts.

Our primary contribution to our partners is a fixed sum given to each and every hospital for every student we send. As Work the World continues to grow we're able to send more people through our partners' doors, meaning we can send increasingly more money to the places that will benefit most.
