The Work The World House
Life in the Work the World house is a crucial part of your Arequipa experience. Your housemates will be fellow healthcare students from all over the world. This gives the house an atmosphere of fun and camaraderie.
You’ll find the Arequipa house in a central location — you’ll be near the best bar and restaurant district in the city.
Arequipa enjoys 300 days of sunshine each year, so you and your housemates can spend plenty of time on the roof terrace (which has amazing views of the city’s snow-capped volcanoes).
Jump in one of the city’s many inexpensive taxis and you can visit thermal spas, take Peruvian dancing and cooking lessons, and head to the central plazas to experience Peruvian nightlife.

Support in the Hospital
Before your internship starts, our team in Arequipa team will take you on a tour of your hospital. This is an informal visit where you’’ll meeting department staff and your supervisors.
The team will visit you throughout placement. This is to make sure that everything is running smoothly.
We’ll confirm your supervisors before your internship begins. Forge a relationship with them and they’ll give you insider knowledge and insight into the local practices.

INTENSIVE SPANISH COURSE
Our one-week Intensive Spanish Course (ISC) is designed to help you prepare for your trip to Peru. If you don't speak Spanish at a conversational level, the course will give you the confidence to converse in a clinical setting. The course includes specifics around departments you'll be spending time in and useful words and phrases for when you’re out and about in Peru. We have worked with the local language school for a number of years and they tailor the course specifically for Work the World students. Book this course today to add another string to your bow, gaining the confidence you need to enrich your elective in Peru.
